NEGF through finite-volume discretization

چکیده
Most common implementations of the NEGF approach are done using the Finite-Difference Method (FDM) on uniform grids. This discretization scheme allows one to study many types of planar devices, such as MOSFETs, superlattices and planar heterojunctions. Within this paradigm, carrier scattering can be included through the selfenergy approach, almost always under the assumption of local interaction, and a number of specialized numerical schemes have been developed, such as the Recursive Green's Function (RGF) method, to solve the resulting linear algebra in an efficient manner.[1]

Boundary treatments in non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) methods for quantum transport in nano-MOSFETs
Non-equilibrium Green’s function (NEGF) is a general method for modeling non-equilibrium quantum transport in open mesoscopic systems with many body scattering effects. In this paper, we present a unified treatment of quantum device boundaries in the framework of NEGF with both finite difference and finite element discretizations. Boundary treatments for both types of numerical methods, and the...
متن کاملFinite Volume Solution of a Cylinder in Cross Flow with Heat Transfer
A finite-volume model has been developed to study incompressible forced flow heat transfer of air over a circular cylinder in cross flow. An artificial compressibility technique is applied to couple the continuity to the momentum equations. The proposed explicit finite-volume method (FVM) uses a novel discretization in time and space. The governing equations are solved by time-marching using a ...
متن کاملHelicopter Rotor Airloads Prediction Using CFD and Flight Test Measurement in Hover Flight
An implicit unsteady upwind solver including a mesh motion approach was applied to simulate a helicopter including body, main rotor and tail rotor in hover flight. The discretization was based on a second order finite volume approach with fluxes given by the Roeand#39;s scheme. Discretization of Geometric Conservation Laws (GCL) was devised in such a way that the three-dimensional flows on arbi...
متن کاملDiscretizations of Convection Terms in Hybrid Mimetic Mixed Methods
We present different ways, coming from Finite Volume or Mixed Finite Element frameworks, to discretize convection terms in Hybrid Finite Volume, Mimetic Finite Difference and Mixed Finite Volume methods for elliptic equations. We compare them through several numerical tests, and we present an application to a system modeling miscible flows in porous media.
متن کاملA posteriori error estimates for mixed finite element and finite volume methods for parabolic problems coupled through a boundary with non-matching discretizations
We examine two different discretization schemes for solving a pair of parabolic problems with distinct spatial and temporal scales that are coupled through a common interface. The two discretization schemes are a mixed finite element method which uses a mortar element technique to couple the subdomains, and a finite volume method which employs geometrically motivated projections to exchange inf...
